Ji Chang Wook’s agency, Spring Company, has released an official statement to address reports concerning the actor being ordered to pay tens of billions of Korean Won (KRW) in additional taxes.

According to Spring Company, the tax audit conducted by the Seoul Regional Tax Office in March was not due to intentional income omission or illegal tax evasion.

Instead, the issue arose from a difference of opinion between the agency and tax authorities regarding legal interpretation.

Specifically, whether profits from his entertainment activities should be attributed to him as an individual or to the corporation under the principle of substantive taxation.

The agency emphasized that since Ji Chang Wook’s debut in 2008, they have strictly complied with all laws and have never faced any tax-related issues.

"We apologize for causing concern. Despite the difference in legal interpretation, we respect the results of the National Tax Service’s investigation and will promptly settle the imposed tax amount," the agency stated.

This matter is believed to be part of a series of tax investigations currently targeting Korean celebrities who operate one-person agencies.

Aside from Ji Chang Wook, several other prominent names, including Cha Eun Woo, Kim Seon Ho, Lee Min Ki, and Yoo Yeon Seok, have also reportedly faced similar additional tax assessments.

To prevent such issues from recurring, Spring Company has pledged to more thoroughly review and strengthen their accounting and tax management systems in the future.
